First 70 degree day always includes a celebration. Celebration such like, garden digging, flower bed tending, coop repairing, tea drinking, chicken cuddling, hammock laying goodness.

ReplyDeleteWhat do the spots on the legs mean? Are they supposed to get spotty as they mature? What type of eggs will the hens be laying (brown,white)?

The farm in which i got the Orusts from stated that at hatching, you can not tell which chicks will have colored scales. That they mature into it. So, its a big mystery, along with the mystery of if they are male/female. One thing of cool notableness is that several of the chicks have pink colored legs, whilst the resmaining have the normal yellowish. So, my theory is that the pink, is a gene with a blocking for pigment, or maybe a domient recessive homozygous!? Both seem to have the spotting on the legs so, more research is needed! Boy do i wish i had a cyctogentic room at home!
