Garden and Chicks

Bixby's hatch has begun.. her chick ran away from the nest so she followed it, leaving this poor guy, shell broken, and cold in the nest with another newly hatched. Caught the chaos just in time. We are lucky the day was warm.

Someone is laying white. The other two are 51g and 61g.
Opal was taken, her chicks survived the attack. RIP opal. It feels like yesterday she was hatched. And was my first experience with twisted toes. She definitely got lots of attention from me as a chick! She was always a good mother and had helped me hatch out several clutches.

2020e and 2020f

Hello everyone,

Hope your June is blooming and you are enjoying the warmth.

The moon has been so beautiful in the morning, waning gibbous, bright white!  Ever wonder what it looks like to watch Earth rise? This is a view from a camera orbiting the moon! Check out Earth Rising!

E and F groups are doing very well. Both moms are very protective. The chicks are all healthy and growing fast.
Garden.
My garden is switched to now first phase summer. All my spring veggies are done and removed. Arugula was delicious but now am focusing on spinach! The sweet potatoes have so many slips I cant plant them fast enough. I am trying to decide on a container garden method, so I can free up some of my beds. Does anyone have any experience with containers?

Tomatoes and cucumbers and squash are settling in nicely. I have two different varieties of squash fairly close together.  I am looking to replant the younger ones in a different location.  I want to do this so to avoid cross pollination.  Last year my black beauty and Yokohamas got to each other. Was odd result.

Opal and two chicks.

Have a lovely humid day!
